New version of the program OASIS (Direct-method SAD/SIR phasing and reciprocal-space fragment extension for proteins) has been released. The current version is named OASIS 4.0. New features in this version include:
1. The SAD-phasing power is significantly enhanced by outputing Hendrickson-Lattman coefficients of the intrinsic unresolved bimodal phase distributions in addition to the direct-method phases and figures of merit. This enables the phase ambiguity to be re-broken by the ever-improving phases during the subsequent density modification and model building.
2. A GUI compatible with CCP4i is provided for controlling and monitoring the OASIS dual-space iteration processes. The dual-space iteration consists of phasing, density modification and model building. In order to use this GUI, the user should have CCP4, ARP/wARP and PHENIX preinstalled in the computer.

The program package VEC (Visual computing in Electron Crystallography) has been revised such that
(1) The program symbol1to2 converting one-line symbols to two-line symbols of (3+1)-dimensional superspace groups has been incorporated into VEC so that the latter can interpret both kinds of symbols;
(2) a bug on calculating structure factors of one-dimensionally incommensurate modulated crystals has been fixed. The correction has been verified by successfully matching the experimental electron microscopy image of an incommensurate crystal with a series of simulated images. The precompiled revised version of VEC and relevant materials are available here.

New Version of Projects are available now. Two projects are added: The Problem of Pseudo-symmetry and Methods for Powder Diffraction Analysis. One project are revised: Programs for Crystallographic Computing, it now includes documents of SAPI, DIMS, VEC and OASIS.
